If you aren’t familiar with PostRank, it is a company that “monitors and collects social engagement events correlated with online content in real-time across the Web,” and also “gathers where and when stories generate comments, bookmarks, tweets, and other forms of interaction from a host of social hubs.” They offer all kinds of services to help you shape your social media strategy; in addition, they also provide a variety of free tools for publishers and online information consumers to discover the best blogs, news, and articles by topic. With that in mind, PostRank announced on their blog the top healthcare blogs of 2009, and the list serves as an excellent blogroll resource for you to check in on the hottest topics in healthcare marketing.

Here are a couple of the winners:

ScienceRoll: The author of this blog, Bertalan Meskó, MD, is also the founder of Webcina.com, the first medical Web 2.0 guidance service. Although ScienceRoll does contain a fair amount of physician-centric content, there’s plenty of postings and multimedia presentations focusing on social media and the way in which it can and is used in healthcare today. Definitely worth a bookmark.

Healthcare Communications and Social Media: The title pretty much says it all. This website has brought together a community of the brightest minds in social media and healthcare and has produced a productive and ongoing dialog between these two sectors. In fact, this site coordinates a weekly chat on Twitter with the hashtag #hcsm (see Watch, Listen, Learn for more) – every Sunday at 9pm eastern time. The entire goal of the website and chat is to “create a collaborative community to build and learn from best practices, based on fast-paced 140 character conversations with candid questions and answers from social media leaders involved in healthcare communications and marketing.” It is highly recommended that you sit in on one of these informative sessions to understand the true value.
